Conceptual Design
Transfield Worley understands the commercial drivers and risk-based decision making processes of asset owners. Our innovative front-end engineering teams have a wealth of experience in concept design across a range of industries. This expertise enables us to challenge traditional views and processes, evaluate commercial implications, analyse risk, and rigorously test the feasibility of business solutions.
Front-End Engineering
Decisions made during the front-end design process can greatly influence the operational and cost effectiveness of a facility and subsequently its safety and environmental performance.
A well-thought-out, detailed concept design by our specialist front-end teams can deliver significant cost savings and operability benefits to clients, enabling them to minimise plant lifecycle costs and avoid costly surprises.
Greenfield Developments
Transfield Worley has undertaken concept development and option selection for a range of greenfield opportunities, examples of which include assessing development options for the Kupe gas field; developing concepts for a hop extract facility in Nelson; and carrying out front-end engineering for Delegat's Marlborough winery.
Our front-end teams are able to consider the different issues and drivers associated with feedstock supply; processing technologies; marketing and resource management issues; environmental and permitting constraints; capital and operating expenditure; and project economics. They have considerable experience in identifying opportunities which can then be ranked and costed as project options prior to moving into front-end engineering design and detailed design. This front-end loading exercise delivers real benefits in terms of value and innovation as well as cost and schedule certainty.
Brownfield Optimisation
Transfield Worley is a world leader in modifying existing industrial plant, with minimum disruption to current operations. Concept design experience includes work in refineries, food and beverage facilities, cement plants, and petrochemical and wastewater treatment plants.
Capital Cost Estimating
Most of the costs of an industrial plant construction project are determined in the initial design phase. Our extensive experience, coupled with a comprehensive capital cost database of information from local and international projects carried out over the last 25 years, allows us to provide rapid and accurate option costing of process plant.
